Idioms!

In class we have been learning about idioms. We had to find the literal and figurative meaning of idioms. for example let the cat out of the bag. the literal meaning is letting the cat out of the bag and the figurative meaning is telling the secret.

I found the literal meaning easy because it's what the idiom literally means and it's easy. I also found the figurative part hard because it's hard to find the figurative meaning for that idiom.

My next learning step is is to learn about connotations.
I hope you enjoy my idioms slideshow.

A day at the Nike factory

WALT use descriptive language and phrases to enhance the mood of fear or sadness

WALT use complex punctuation in our writing such as semi colons and colons and punctuation within speech marks.

What I was writing about was the perspective of a kid working in a factory.

I hope you enjoy my fantastic piece of writing

A day at the Nike factory.
On an early Monday morning I got out of my box. I put on my uniform and  walked to the factory.  It was pure dark. I couldn’t see anything. I was also half asleep. Outside it was as freezing as the north pole. My hands, fingers, feet and toes were numb. My head hung low and I walked slowly to the factory  It was horrible and disgusting there. The factory that I worked in made Nike shoes ; The factory was in the most dreadful location in China.
I arrived at the factory. It was about two AM in the morning. I heard the buzzer go off.  I started to walk into the factory and go to my station. As I walked into the factory I could feel a fiery, hot heat wave hit me. The disgusting odor of the factory fumes hung in the air and the all the underprivileged children were slaving away sewing shoes. They had no shirts or shoes and I was one of them.  I could hear all of the heavy duty machines. The machines had a rhythmic sound.
I sluggishly walked to my station, I put on my mask and started to work. I had to: glue the shoes, sew the shoes and many more things. I started to get dizzy. I  felt sick like I was going to faint. It was like I was in a horror movie where poor kids and adults was working for a maniac.  I was miserable working at this hazardous, dangerous and unsafe factory.
Hours later the buzzer goes off. It is time for lunch. Everybody lined up for their bowl of rice. Once I got my rice I went to go sit down on the ground. The rice looked as stale as a dead worm But I will still eat it. I didn’t get much rice to eat. Nobody ever gets much rice to eat.
Three minutes later the buzzer goes off. “Ohh I didn’t even get a chance to eat my rice” I sobbed. So I instantaneously shoved the rice into my mouth.  After I shoved the rice into my mouth I started to go back to work.
As I was working I was imagining eating foods like: pizza, burgers, chips vegetables, fruit and many more. I started to drool. I just stood there day dreaming. I dreamed of being with family and friends at the beach having lots and lots of fun. I also dreamed of going to school to get an education. But no. I have to work in this horrible and disgusting place. I tried to swallow down the sadness inside me.
My mate (Bojing) next to me told me to start working before the boss sees me. So I started to work. “Uhhh!” I moaned. “I wish I was not working in this place, I wished no one was working in this horrible bad smelly place”  I Moaned. I didn’t want to work so I stopped. But then, the big bad boss caught me and yelled at me.  The boss demanded, “Get back to work!”  Everyone looked at me. I stood there frozen in fear.  I started to quiver.  He petrified me. So I pretend to go back to work and be happy like nothing ever happened.
Finally, it is 11:00 pm. I can finish work and go to sleep. I am too exhausted to work any more, but in the morning the process starts all over again. Will anything good ever happen? I thought as I fell asleep.
