An Hour Of Coding

W.A.L.T complete coding tasks
SC: Use the minimum amount of blocks to complete the task.
Some of the key strategy to remember for coding is to use the minimal amount of blocks because if you use too much blocks the programe won't run probably.

Are you interested in what I have learnt today?

Today I have learned about spreading kindness or as it was called color someone’s canvas. We colored someone’s canvas by leaving a thoughtful comment on their blog. So we had to pick someone’s name out that was on a Popsicle stick and had to leave a thoughtful comment on that person’s blog. The person’s blog I had to comment on was Tyla’s blog. The piece of work I commented on was Tyla’s writing goal for the week. This is the comment I wrote on Tyla’s blog:
Kia ora Tyla, I like your writing goal that you have set for this week and how you have thought about your goal and how you are going to achieve it. Just to make your sentence make sense you need to have a full stop at punctuation, you need to change your last sentence around and have a capital I. But overall awesome work Tyla!
Blog ya later
So that is one of the things I’ve learnt today. There a plenty more but I only had to share one.

A Day At Home

W.A.L.T organise and follow the structure of a recount.

  A Day At Home
Last Thursday my family and I was having a relaxing day at home. When I woke up I shouted “it is freezing!” My bones were ice cold. So I had breakfast and got ready for the day.

A few hours later I was getting bored at home so I decided to play my PS4. I was playing GTA 5 and I played as Franklin. I was driving my T20 around the city and shooting people. The T20 is one of the most fastest cars in the game. It was kind of fun driving around but after awhile I started to get even more bored, so I got off my game and had a long power nap.

Two hours later I got up and I was starving like I have never eaten in three days. “Can I have some Mcdonalds please dad” I asked. “Yes we can” my dad replied. So when we got to Mcdonalds, I had a juicy and delicious triple cheese burger. It tasted so delicious that it was like It was heaven. So after we had a kai we headed back home.
When we got back I started to play my game again.

An hour later It was finally time to go to sleep. So I put my pajamas on and went to bed. At the time I was so tired that I could sleep for along time. In conclusion what I thought about that day was that it was a relaxing, boring and kind of fun day but not really. I really enjoyed my burger that I had and I kind of enjoyed playing GTA 5. At times I was bored because there was nothing to do and there was no mates to play with but I still kind of enjoyed that day. Another thing I enjoyed was spending sometime with dad eating Mcdonalds with him and having some time out of the house for the day. But overall it was an alright day.

What I learned in math today

Today I was learning to rename. The WALT was to use the renaming strategy when multiplying using pen and paper. I think I did well using the renaming strategy and it helped me a lot to answer big multiplication questions. I found it easy to solve the problems but at first I found it difficult at first to solve the questions but I got the hang of it. So that is what I learned in math today.

Hour of Code

Today I have learned to improve my coding skills. The code activity I chose was the flappy bird game. For me it was a bit challenging on level 8 because I got confused on what I had to do, but whaea Tania told me that it was giving me clues on what I had to do. So I figured it out and I had to set the scene onto random to pass the level. I helped my friend Sonny by helping him to pass the level that he was stuck on. It took me about twenty minutes to finish all ten levels. So if you want to try hour of code for yourself, here is the link

Here if my certificate that I earned on the flappy bird game:

My Speech Writing

I am learning to write out my speech in the proper writing form.
Kia ora everyone, my name is Ricci and the topic I’ve chosen for my speech is that alcohol and bad drugs should be banned worldwide and I strongly believe that many people would benefit from this fact. So i’m going to talk about that today.

Firstly, when people put alcohol and drugs into their body, it can cause major damage to their health. For example, your heart could get damaged.

I know this because alcohol can cause an irregular heart beat which means that your heart will be beating out of rhythm, and this is not how things should be. Also over half of New Zealand is addicted to alcohol and drugs.

My second reason is, if you drink alcohol and partake in bad drugs at an early age, it can lead to an early death, and If you were to die from drugs and alcohol, it can have a devastating effect on your family and even  your closest friends. Would you want this to be you?

Another reason why alcohol and bad drugs should be banned is, if your doing drugs and drinking alcohol around your kids, it can have an influence on them and it could lead them want into doing drugs and drinking alcohol regardless of their age. So, if your family is important to you then drugs and alcohol would definitely not play a role in this fact.

My last reason why you shouldn’t drink alcohol and take bad drugs is you only have one body and there is only one you. Your health is the most important factor. I, for one would not like to see myself end up in hospital because of drinking too much or overdosing on drugs. This is a sure fact that we could all do without.

So drinking alcohol and doing drugs can do a lot of damage to your body, it can have a bad influence on your kids, it can lead to an early death, and cause a really bad irregular heart beat. So if you are addicted to alcohol and drugs, it is time to change and talk to a nurse or a doctor. There is always help out there.  So I hope I have persuaded people that the banning of alcohol and drugs could only benefit a healthier community and an alcohol and drug free world. Thank you all for listening to my speech today.

The Two Origins Of The 7 Sisters

The seven sisters originated from Greek myth and not really from Maori myths depending on what you have heard. The seven sisters are the daughters of Paleo and Atlas. Whaea Chanella told us it and the myth goes that their parents threw their daughters ( the seven sisters) up into the sky to escape the wrath of the god Zeus.
So that is the origin of the Greek version of the seven sisters.
The origin of the Maori version of the seven sisters is that TaWhirimatea ( the god of wind) disliked the idea his parents ( Rangi and Papa) getting separated, so he went out beating up his brothers because he didn't like the fact that his siblings or brothers wanted their parents separated. He could beat up his brothers but one, which was Tumatauenga ( the god of war). So because he got beaten up by Tumatauenga, he threw his eyes into his dads chest which created the first stars, the seven sisters that we all know. So TaWhirimatea is known as the blind god because he has no eyes. So that is how Maori version of the seven sisters goes.

My Hour Of Code Certificate

Here is the image of my certificate that I earned on hour of code on Tuesday.

Hour Of Code

We have been learning to code.  The coding I chose was the Minecraft coding activity.
I enjoyed how challenging the levels were and coding the characters to make them do stuff.
It was challenging when I got a little bit stuck on level 11 but after awhile I figured it out.
I helped others by telling them how to solve the levels that they were stuck on.
I didn't need help on any of the levels
It took my about an hour to finish the 12 stages.  When I finished the 12 stages I got a certificate. I took screenshots as I worked my way through the stages.  When you look at the screenshots you can see how I used blocks to create the code which made the characters move.
Here are some screenshots of my coding.

                            Playing Mini Golf
It was a cold and foggy Friday morning, my sister, my two uncles, my nana and I went to go play mini golf in Hamilton. I was so excited to go play mini golf with my family. So I got up and ready for the day. About twenty minutes later we get into the car and start driving to Hamilton to play mini golf and have a fun time. It looked like everyone was excited to play mini golf.

Thirty minutes later we arrive. We were all excited to play mini golf. So then we head straight into the receptionist office and went to pay to play mini golf. Straight after that we started at hole one. It took my about five to six tries to get the ball into the hole. About three or four holes later one of my uncles got a hole in one and then we all shouted. “Oh what a fluke uncle!” About fifteen holes later we were at the last hole. It took awhile for me to get my ball into the hole.

Finally we had all finished playing mini golf. “This day was awesome!” I shouted. Then we went back into the car and went back to my Nana’s house. That day was one of the most best days I’ve ever had.

My book review 2018

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K Rowling
W.A.L.T write a book review.
Image result for goblet of fire book

The main characters in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire are Harry, Ron and Hermione. This book is a fiction book. The story is about when Harry's name gets drawn from the cup from Barty crouch Jr (A bad guy that helps in the resurrection of lord Voldemort) Harry is then set on a dangerous contest to win the Triwizard cup. But when Harry and Cedric Diggory (Another competitor in the Triwizard tournament and a friend of Harry’s) both touch the cup in the last part of the Triwizard tournament, they are both teleported to a graveyard where these bad people use Harry’s blood to resurrect lord Voldemort. What I enjoyed about this book so far is when they are competing in the Triwizard tournament. I enjoyed that part because it was fun and exciting. This book was sometimes easy to read. There are some parts where it’s hard to understand.I have oread up to the Quidditch world cup but I know what the story is about. So that is pretty much what the book is about.

How does a sportsman work?

Kia ora everybody! Today I will be presenting my explanation writing on how does a sportsman work. Enjoy my piece of writitng!

An awesome sportsman a person that is competitive, positive and respects others in all sports. They are good supporters towards their teammates and any opposing teams. And also sportsmanship is when a person is a good communicator towards their teammates by giving them clear directions and instructions

One way an awesome sports person works is by encouraging their teammates and any opposing team. So that they can be respectful and awesome competitors in whatever sports they are playing. And also their team and other teams can play fairly in the sport. It can also make others feel appreciated.

Another way an awesome sportsperson works is by being a good communicator by giving them clear instructions & directions to what the play is so that they can understand the instructions & directions given to them.

One more way an awesome sports person works is by having a positive attitude on an off the court so they can become better athletes in the sport. They can become a better supporter and encourage others to be an awesome sportsman.

Have you been to Waitangi?

Kia ora everyone, today I will be presenting my recount on going to Waitangi to see the prime ministers speech and other stuff. Enjoy my piece of writing!

It was a warm, sunny Monday morning on February 5th, me, my sister and Rena where driving to Waitangi. I was so excited to see the prime minister do her speech at Waitangi. A short while later we had arrived at Waitangi, there were truck loads of people there. So then we parked up and waited for the school to arrive.

Shortly after that the school had arrived so we walked hover to them  and joined up with them. I went with my class and my sister went with her class. After that me and my class went to see the powhiri for the prime minister.

A few minutes later me and my class were there at the powhiri and  right away I shouted out “I see the prime minister!, I see the prime minister!”

A few moments later I saw Kanoa Lloyd from the Project. When I met her she was one of the nicest person I have met. After that Some people from my class got interviewed from Maori television. After some people got interviewed My and some people from my class  said “Kia ora Jacinda” on Maori television.

Finally the prime minister started her speech. She was talking about her childhood and her memories going to Waitangi as she was a kid and some other things. When the prime minister finished her speech the whole class went down to the waka area. When we got there my step mother Rena and my sister Sarah-Jane were walking down to the waka area. After that we all went home. I was so exhausted at the time I could almost drop and fall asleep.

Are you a bucket filler?

W.A.L.T choose actions that helps our classroom to be happy and safe. So today i'm presenting my explanation writing on bucket filling. So I hope you enjoy my writing and become a bucket filler today!

How Does A Bucket filler work?

Everyone in the world carries an invisible bucket just like you and me. So anyone is able to put kind thoughts and good feelings into anyone else's bucket. So this is an explanation of the process of bucket filling and how it works.
So anyone one can fill anyone else’s bucket with kind thoughts and good feelings right? So when you be a bucket filler you fill up the other person’s bucket and your bucket get filled up as well. So for example you show manaakitanga to the speaker. That shows that you’re being a good listener because you showed respect to the speaker and that would fill their bucket, your bucket, and also it can help others to become good listeners and bucket fillers too. By being a bucket filler it can make that person’s day.

Manaakitanga can be shown to others by helping, supporting, or playing with others and including them in a game of basketball. That means caring about other people, filling their buckets and also it is helping others to show manaakitanga and fill buckets. There are so many ways you can be a bucket filler. Another thing is that by filling another person’s bucket it could help them be successful in their life because you are filling their bucket with kind thoughts and good feelings. They can also be encouraged to fill other people’s buckets up. So that is how a bucket filler works.

So filling other people’s buckets with kind thoughts and good feelings can have an amazing and wonderful effect on every person in the whole entire world!

Time words: A few minutes later, After that, A moment later, Shortly after that,

When It Rains It Pours
It was a stormy and rainy saturday, I woke up and I had seen the horrendous rain come down, bit by bit, drop by drop. It rained as if it was the most dangerous hurricane. It became a tragic day for us. I was a terrible disaster.
An hour later the power went out,I quickly ran into the living room and Shouted “The power went out!” It just got so boring out home. Having no power and the hurricane like weather It just became so boring at home. All we had to play were board games such as: checkers, jenga, connect 4 and some other games. They kept me and the family company as it was raining and the power was out. It started to get a little bit fun at home playing board games with my family.

Finally the power cut had ended and the rain started to stop. I immediately had shouted out “yay the power cut had ended and it’s starting to clear up!”. It was a huge relief that the power cut had ended and the rain had started to go away.

I thought that day was a bit fun playing board games with my family. I really enjoyed that day.
